The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) describes the stage of explain as:
  • The teacher provides opportunities for students to demonstrate their current level of understanding through verbal and non-verbal means.
  • They explicitly teach relevant knowledge, concepts and skills. This content is represented in multiple ways.
  • The teacher provides strategies to enable students to connect and organise new and existing knowledge.
  • They assist students to represent their ideas, using language and images to engage them in reading, writing, speaking, listening and viewing.
  • The teacher explicitly teaches the language of the discipline.
  • They progressively assess students’ understanding and structure opportunities for students to practise new skills.

Using this program PhotoFace teachers can record online feedback for students about completed work.
Students can watch and listen to personal comments about their work that the teacher has created for each specific student.
Giving students feedback in this way can help motivate students to take on board both the positive and the helpful comments that is given to them.

PhotoFace could also be used in the classroom in a range of different ways.
For example:
-Students can give feedback to peers about completed work.
-Students could respond to the teachers feedback.
-Students could record answers to questions that the teacher has set.
-Students could record journal entries about their efforts in completing tasks.
